Lean times

I know it's been a few days since I last posted, but I hope this little message from Hunter will tide you over until I get some things together. I did this a few years back during the peak of Paul Frank's reign.

Franklin Hills

I was telling a friend about my ages-old Franklin Hills ads from 2002. I was parodizing the popularity of my greater-Los-Feliz neighborhood and the infusion of "new" people, Television's tendency to ultra-glamorize life in Los Angeles - one neighborhood at a time, Boing-Boing founder Mark Frauenfelder's sudden omnipresence on the web starting with his Apple Switch ad and ABC's then-newish Yellow campaign:

In the second season, there is a cast change not unfamiliar to prime time drama television viewers:

From what I can see, theres only one thing wrong with this amazing bedroom structure.

First meeting with Mickey

Gino And Mickey, originally uploaded by ginodeyoung.

This was at the restaurant that for a time was known as "The American Egg House" although since this was 1974 it might predate that name. The Mad Hatter window can be seen in the background. Remember when you could have extended experiences with characters in the park without waiting in line or being part of a mob?

Fast on the heels of the Contemporary Hotel room service menu, we have this snack bar menu from the Polynesian. It's nice to see that the system crossed between hotels, creating an equivalent experience at either resort. Mmmmm... I could go for a Ruben Rarotonga right about now.
